One Canada for All:
CUAME Unity and Inclusion Fundraising Gala

加拿大拒绝排斥与歧视筹款晚宴

Fairness, dignity and opportunity for all Canadians.

让所有加拿大人享有公平、尊严与机会。

On 1st May , Canadians United Against Modern Exclusion (CUAME), in partnership with the United Promotion Council of Canadian Public Affairs (UPCCPA), successfully hosted the “One Canada for All: CUAME Unity and Inclusion Fundraising Gala” at Casa Deluz Banquet Hall, Toronto.

Nearly 500 guests attended the gala, including political leaders, community leaders, representatives from diverse communities, youth representatives, supporters and friends from across Canada. The event provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about modern exclusion and to stand together in support of fairness, dignity, and opportunity for all Canadians.

During the evening, CUAME’s Founder and President, the Honourable Yuen Pau Woo and CUAME’s board member, the Honourable Victor Oh delivered inspiring remarks on the historical discrimination and exclusion experienced by Chinese Canadians and other racialized communities. They also introduced the concept of modern exclusion and shared the vision and purpose behind the founding of CUAME. Both speakers called on all sectors of society to work together in building a more inclusive and united Canada, while defending the rights and freedoms of all Canadians.

Distinguished guests, including Manitoba’s 24th Lieutenant Governor the Honourable Philip Siu Lun Lee, Former Senator the Honourable Dr. Vivienne Poy, MP Shaun Chen, Deputy Mayor Michael Chan, Regional Councillor Joe Li, Regional Councillor Alan Ho, Councillor Isa Lee, Councillor Ritch Lau, Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci, and Councillor Jamaal Myers, also delivered remarks throughout the evening. Speakers reflected on the challenges and experiences faced by the Chinese Canadian community across different periods of history and emphasized the importance of unity in against discrimination and all forms of modern exclusion, including under the name of “foreign interference” or “national security” .

Additional distinguished guests in attendance included Former MP Han Dong, Former MP Paul Chiang, Former MPP Reza Moridi, and representatives from Mayor Olivia Chow’s Office, along with many other political and community leaders.

Beyond the Chinese Canadian community, the gala was honoured to welcome representatives and organizations from a wide range of diverse communities, including Japanese, Filipino, Malaysian, Laotian, Black, Iranian, Burmese, Indian, Tamil, and Pakistani communities. Their participation highlighted the importance of cross-cultural solidarity and reaffirmed a shared commitment to combating discrimination and promoting an inclusive and equitable Canada.

As May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada, the gala carried even greater significance in celebrating diversity, inclusion, and civic participation. CUAME remains committed to raising awareness of modern exclusion, encouraging political engagement, protecting civil liberties, and advocating for a more inclusive Canada where all individuals are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

CUAME extends its heartfelt appreciation to all guests, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners for their generous support and participation. Their contributions and encouragement played an important role in the success of the gala and in advancing CUAME’s mission to foster inclusion, understanding, and equal opportunity for all Canadians.
